Know Your Pride started life with the help from Fixers UK who supported young people turn ideas into reality, to help make a voice for young people and to get people to listen to causes they were passionate about. Below is the video which we created to get people to think about how they use the word “gay”. This is the video which I made in 2014 with the fabulous FixersUK. The Fixers organisation has finished now but they have kept their website and social media still active as a legacy so you can read all about the amazing work which young people did. You can find the Fixers Know Your Pride profile page which has been archived by clicking here.
And this is the report on ITV Anglia!
“Stop using gay in a negative way” – David Mills
I wanted to continue work around LGBT+ issues, and after securing funding from O2 Think Big, developed a project which encompassed a number of interactive workshops with young people aged 13 – 25. This ran from 2014 – 2018, and as well as utilising the Fixers UK video and a presentation, the workshop talked about being LGBT+, why homophobic bullying is damaging and we had time to do a question and answer session as well.
In 2020 I am now launching a blog and will write articles around everything LGBT+ I hope you enjoy reading! If you wish to get in contact about anything or would like to write a piece for the blog feel free to email firstname.lastname@example.org or complete the contact form.
David Mills has spent the last ten years working with young people as a Youth Support Worker in a variety of capacities and also works with young people with additional needs. He is is still in this profession and has a passion for the LGBT+ community as well as the performing arts.
